Should I find a box for my TV?
No. TVs are blanket wrapped, and we bring enough blankets to cover every move.
Am I charged extra if my move uses more stretch wrap, or blankets or equipment or tools?
No. Your total price is based on time, not the amount of supplies used, equipment etc.
Will you pick up some of my furniture at a storage unit and the rest from my apt?
Yes, we will pick up from multiple locations, and we will deliver to multiple locations. There are no extra charges. Our rates are 100% time based.
If I want boxes, will they cost me anything?
Yes. But, we are a Uhaul & Discount Packaging Center, so our box prices are the best anywhere.
Why do I need boxes, can’t you blanket wrap everything?
No. All small objects and loose items must be in boxes. Additionally, glass, marble, ceramic, artwork, and similarly fragile items must be well packaged in boxes.
Do you charge less for drive time than actual hard work time?
No. Drive time costs us more because of gas and engine mileage, but we still charge the same.
Do most customers package everything in boxes before the movers show up?
It is split 50-50. About half of all customers self pack and of course you save money by self packing. However, there are many instances in which time, health, energy, vacations, and life in general prevent customer packs. Our professional movers are more than happy to pack your entire move. They will pack artwork, lamps, computers, electronics, small and loose items, etc.
Can I have you do everything, including packaging?
Yes. Our men are very experienced, fast and careful.
What are my extra costs to have you do the packaging?
Our cost is still just hourly plus any packing supplies. Our supplies are always discount priced.
What’s included in my move?
Men, 26’ Moving Truck, Blankets, Stretch Wrap, Tools, Equipment, Rope, Load Locks.
What’s not included in my move?
Boxes and Packaging Supplies like paper and bubble wrap.
Should my artwork be in boxes even if there is no glass?
Yes. You can always insist that you want your oil paintings blanket wrapped at your own risk!
Can I have the movers take off their shoes in my home/apt?
No. Movers usually wear steal toed shoes for protection and insurance requires shoes.
If my move only takes 1 hour, will I only be charged for 1 hour or are there time minimums?
There is a three hour minimum unless you have special circumstances.
Can I pay for my move with cash or a check at the end of the move?
Yes. But you must pay a deposit in order to book your move, usually $100.
Why do I need a deposit to book my move?
Men show up for work and need to be paid like every other job. A deposit says you are serious. Once we get a deposit we turn down everyone else that wants your move time.
How can I pay for a deposit without a credit or debit card?
You can pay by cash, check or money order, in person or by mail.
If my needs should change are there any cancellation charges?
Yes. You will lose your deposit. Actually we lose much more than the amount of the deposit. For starters, we pay the men 4 hours the day of your move whether you cancel or not. This is the only way to keep the best full time professional movers available in order to provide you with a fast, safe move.
Will you ever sue me for breach of our moving agreement if I should need to cancel my move?
No. We will bite the proverbial bullet and only take the deposit as total compensation.
Are there any circumstances in which I will not lose my deposit for a move cancellation?
Yes. You will not lose your deposit If, for example, your home doesn’t close, and you reschedule your move within 30 days. We will still pay the men for showing up but we are somewhat compensated by keeping your job.
Will you come out to our apartment/home and give an estimate?
We give estimates when the distance between your pick up address and the delivery address are far apart, for example, when you are moving out of state. We need to make sure we allocate the right size of truck or space on a semi. However, when the distance is short, say under 25 miles, it’s not that big of a deal to come back for another load, or to call more men onto the job for special or unforeseen circumstances.
Is there any way I can get a ball park figure as to how long my move should take?
Yes. Two men load and unload about 1000 pounds per hour. So, if you have 4000 pounds, your move will probably take about 4 hours. Of course, there is also some drive time between your pickup address and your delivery address.
Should I take a part and put back together my furniture?
Of course you can, but you don't need to. Our movers disassemble and reassemble furniture and unhook and reconnect washing machines, dryers, and refrigerators everyday, so they are very fast, very careful, and very good at doing these things.
Can my family help with the move?
Yes, to a degree. If you’re a “do-it-yourselfer” you should start with the packing. Next take fragile and especially hard to package items like glass figurines, plants, dried flowers, CPUs, table top lamps etc. in your car. Next centralize all your boxes into one staging area like your garage, and when the movers arrive carry them to the vicinity of, and or behind the truck. Make sure the movers know exactly how to get to your destination. Offer fluids, especially on hot and or long days. Some customers find the cost of a pizza is money well spent.
Can I schedule the carpet cleaners and construction men the day of the move?
You must be very cautious about whom and what you allow over the day of the move. Animals, children, friends, neighbors etc all add distraction and varying degrees of chaos as the movers are trying to focus on providing an efficient move and without damage. In fact our contract says you the customer will hold the movers harmless for any injuries or damage caused when relatives, tradesmen, neighbors etc. are “underfoot.”
When does the move time start and stop?
The clock starts when the movers leave our warehouse and stops when the last piece is loaded off the truck at the destination. So we pay to get ourselves home and you pay to get us to you.
Do you work 7 days a week?
Yes and no. We work Monday thru Saturday, but we only work in special circumstances on Sunday. The Sunday rate is the same but the customer must have a compelling reason why he/she needs us on Sunday. We never do more than 1 job on Sunday and usually will not start until noon.
What time will you show up on my job?
During the winter, moves usually begin around 9AM, and during the summer around 8AM. We normally try to schedule the longer move in the morning and small jobs in the afternoon. We usually schedule the afternoon move around 2PM, but the exact start time depends on when the men get finished with the morning move, so the “scheduled” 2PM is only an approximation. Of course, we will schedule no afternoon moves when the morning job is thought to take most of the day.
What if my home or apartment is not ready to move into?
Assuming that you must move out of your old place before your new place is ready you have two options. One, if it's less than a week we will try to keep your things loaded in the truck to avoid the cost of unloading and reloading the truck plus the additonal wear and tear on your belongings. Two, we can unload your household or office items into storage and when your new place is ready we'll move your goods into your new place. Or, at your request we can even keep some of your things in storage and move only certain specified goods into your new location.
Will you ever not show up for my job.
We will always show up. Sometimes we need to call the afternoon customer and explain that the morning move was much bigger than we were originally told. Since we never abandon a customer, we stay until the morning move is completed. The afternoon customer can tell us to come even if it’s late afternoon or reschedule for the following day.
